The Sims Medieval

The Sims Medieval is a video game in The Sims series based upon The Sims 3 Engine, developed and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X and iOS, was released on March 22, 2011. The game was also released through PC downloads on the same date. Set in medieval times, it allows the player to build a kingdom through quest-driven gameplay. On December 21, 2010, EA announced that the Limited Edition was available until the launch date, and was also released at the same time as the standard edition.[1] Initial response to The Sims Medieval has been positive and sales have totalled over 300,000 copies
The Sims Medieval provides a medieval setting for the player to work within, with newly designed buildings and scenery to give an authentic "back in time" experience. Players will build a kingdom up, send Sims on quests, and earn rewards in the form of Kingdom Points. The game diverges from the series in that players can win the game by achieving a kingdom ambition. Ambitions include "Best In Show", "Busy Builder", "Efficient Expander", "Fame", "Filled Coffers", "Hard Workers", "Imperial Domination", "Legendary", "No Quest For The Weary", "Safe And Sound", "Thoughts And Prayers", and "Wealthy Populace".
In a change from other Sims games, the character creation, simulation, and architectural aspects are significantly reduced and altered to enforce a sharper focus on RPG-style gameplay. For example, players will be able to customise the aesthetics and layout of building interiors, but they will be unable to alter the basic structure and shape of buildings.[2] Instead, the game will involve the player upgrading a kingdom, choosing an ultimate goal for that kingdom (such as wealth or popularity) and then fulfilling quests that contribute to that goal. The goal can be completed through the use of heroes (or specialists). For example, the player can have a wizard and a physician cooperate on one quest or a knight and monarch in another. Focus, experience, and the traits of the Sim influence their success, and players may choose how the team will attempt to conduct the quest. Players will also choose which Sim will lead the team. Interestingly, The Sims Medieval will not be a generational game. Much like the first generation of the main series, The Sims, the characters in the game will not progress through life stages: Sims will still be able to procreate, and those children will only age to adulthood if one of their hero parents die, in which they take up their place. Sims will each have two normal traits and one fatal flaw, which can be turned into a positive trait through a quest, unlike the The Sims 3 where there are five main traits only depending on the age group.
In an interview with GameSpot, the game's senior producer, Rachel Bernstein stated that the game will be more dangerous for Sims, with death and failure a possibility during the game's quests. Listed dangers included low focus on quests, plague, peasant revolts, wildlife, poisons, duels, and more.[3] Unlike past games, there is a definite beginning and end to the game. Players earn ratings at the end of the game depending on their performance. Players may also reach "Quest Failed!" screens if they do not complete a predefined goal in a predetermined amount of time.[4]

Battle:Los Angeles

Battle: Los Angeles (also known as Battle: LA and World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles, and formerly known as Battle for Los Angeles) is a 2011 American military science fiction war film directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and starring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo and Michael Peña. The film is set in modern day Los Angeles and follows a platoon of U.S. Marines during a global alien invasion, who are joined by an Airman and some Army National Guard infantry. The events of the film are inspired by the Battle of Los Angeles, a supposed World War II air raid of the city which turned out to be a false alarm caused by several unidentified flying objects.

Mysterious objects thought to be meteorites crash into Earth's oceans near many major cities. These objects are revealed to be spacecraft containing hostile extraterrestrial beings. U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton arrive in LA to defend against alien ground forces and assist in the evacuation of civilians in preparation for a bombing campaign. Among the military's forces is SSgt. Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart), a 20-year veteran who lost his squad during his last deployment in Iraq. Nantz had planned to retire, but the situation requires him to replace the platoon sergeant from Echo Company, 2nd Battalion 5th Marines.
Under command of 2ndLt. William Martinez (Ramon Rodriguez), fresh out of The Basic School, the platoon attends a briefing at Santa Monica Airport, which has been converted to a Forward Operating Base. They learn that the alien force consists solely of ground forces at the moment, with no air support to speak of; as such, the Air Force plans to commence saturation bombing of the Santa Monica area at 1930 hours. The platoon's mission is to rescue civilians from an LAPD police station within three hours. As they advance through the city, they are ambushed and suffer casualties, but link up with a group of Army National Guard soldiers from the 40th Infantry Division, including Air Force intelligence Technical Sergeant Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez). Eventually, the combined team reaches the police station, finding five civilians inside: a veterinarian named Michele (Bridget Moynahan), children Hector Rincon (Bryce Cass), Kirsten (Joey King) and Amy (Jadin Gould), and Hector's father Joe (Michael Peña). A helicopter arrives to evacuate the wounded Marines Simmons, Guerrero, Lenihan and Grayston, but is unable to take on the civilians because it is already full. As the helicopter is taking off, it is destroyed by an alien aircraft, killing everyone aboard.
The Marines commandeer a city bus for evacuation. They also find a wounded alien and, with the help of Michele, learn of the aliens' physiology, finding a weak point in the torso. They also learn that the alien aircraft are remote-controlled drones and that the drones can track human radio transmissions. Santos reveals her original mission was to locate the aliens' central command center, believing that its destruction would deactivate the alien drones and turn the tide of the war. On a freeway, they encounter a lone infantry fighting vehicle that is under attack and subsequently destroyed by the aliens. With the bus under attack and the freeway off-ramp destroyed, the Marines begin rappelling the civilians off the side of the freeway. The Army personnel, and Stravou and Mottola are killed. Mr. Rincon and Lt. Martinez are also wounded. Martinez sacrifices himself to destroy the enemy unit by detonating C-4 explosives inside the bus, leaving Nantz in command.
The remnants of the platoon (Nantz, Santos, Corporal Kevin Harris (Ne-Yo), Corpsman Jibril Adukwu (Adetokumboh M'Cormack), Lance Corporal Peter Kerns (Jim Parrack), Corporal Lee Imlay (Will Rothhaar), Corporal Jason Lockett (Cory Hardrict) and the five civilians) escape the bombing zone, taking refuge at a convenience store. A news report speculates that the aliens have attacked Earth for its water supply, which they use as fuel. The team waits for the bombing to begin, but nothing happens. The reason for this is revealed at the Santa Monica Airport, where the FOB was destroyed by the aliens, and Nantz learns that the military forces are losing Los Angeles. Utilizing an LAV-25 and a Humvee, Echo Company plans to escort the civilians to a helicopter at an alternate extraction point. Before they embark, Rincon dies from his wounds and Lockett (whose brother died under Nantz's command in Iraq) openly doubts Nantz's ability to lead. Nantz and Lockett come to terms with their guilt and anger as Nantz lists the names, ranks and serial numbers of all the marines who have died under his command from memory. They reach the extraction point and leave.
From the air, Nantz spots a city block lacking power, and speculates that the block is the location of the alien command center. With the military forces having retreated from the area, Nantz decides to try to recon the area alone, but his team insists on accompanying him. Going underground, the Marines confirm the presence of a large alien vessel and return to the surface. Kerns radios in to request guided missile strikes, which will be targeted by Nantz via laser designator while the remaining Marines defend the position. Kerns is killed when his radio broadcasts draw attention to him, and the command center, damaged but not disabled by the first missile, rises from the ground to find safer haven. The drones protect their command center from the second missile, but the marines use an AT4 rocket launcher to destroy the drone that was about to intercept the third missile. The third missile strikes the command center, which soon falls apart. The alien ground forces retreat as their drones rain down around them, and reinforcements arrive to extract the surviving marines in Los Angeles.
Nantz's team is extracted to a temporary base in the Mojave Desert, where they are greeted as heroes for their bravery. All other cities under attack now plan to emulate their strategy, destroying the alien command center in each city. Despite orders to rest, Nantz's team rejoin the rest of the Marines in retaking Los Angeles

Steam Slug

GFI recently announced that they are working on a new third-person shooter called Steam Slug. It’s an odd name for a game, I know, but the concept seems kind of cool especially considering that it’s a steam-punk version of Terminator.

Right off the bat, visually, Steam Slug looks like the art-deco from BioShock thrown into the Terminator universe. The storyline is also identical to James Cameron’s vision of the Terminator franchise: robots have ravaged the land and are on a mechanical rampaged. Only human resistance fighters stand in the way of the steam-driven maniacs trying to wipe humanity off the face of the planet. Cliché, yes, but the game looks darn fine and if the action is good then it could be the robot-war game we’ve been waiting for.

In addition to announcing that the game will be arriving in the fourth-quarter to PC, GFI also released some new screenshots of the game and they are very convincing. Hands-down, it looks like an intriguing game so far. A brief list of the game’s features can be found below and if you stay tuned in with Blend Games we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any new updates or assets released for the game.

Steam Slug Features

• Unique steampunk style
• Intense third person shooter
• Realistic, destructible environment
• Interactive, changing world with cunning enemies
• Arenas for fighting deadly bosses

Clive Barker's Jericho

Clive Barker’s Jericho is a supernatural horror-themed first person shooter video game with author Clive Barker providing the premise of the storyline. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2007.
Jericho's core gameplay consists of leading the game's eponymous seven-man team, allowing control of all team members by jumping to each character during certain points in the game, through various environments that have been warped by the Firstborn while fighting off a variety of twisted creatures.
The game also features several "survival events" where the player must press the corresponding buttons or keys shown on screen in order to successfully survive. Additionally, each team member has both a primary and a secondary attack, either in the form of an alternate fire such as a grenade launcher on a rifle, or a secondary weapon such as a sword or pistol that can be dual wielded. While the game is a first person shooter, the ability to control different members of one's squad adds a tactical element; players must determine which squad member is appropriate for each particular job. Not only does each squad member have different strengths and weaknesses, but they also each have a unique ability (or supernatural abilities in some cases). This allows the player freedom in choosing a playing style that suits them throughout much of the game. However, during certain instances, certain characters are unplayable.
The squad's supernatural abilities play a prominent role in the game. The character the player originally controls is a psychic healer (medic) with the ability to fully heal fallen comrades that are close to death. Other squad members have other powers, such as summoning a fire demon, slowing time, firing a guided bullet, and leeching life from enemies to add it to one's own.

F.E.A.R II:Project Origin

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is a psychological horror first-person shooter video game, developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is a sequel to F.E.A.R. and was released on February 10, 2009. It was made available on Steam on February 12, 2009.
The F.E.A.R. 2 gameplay maintains the core elements from the original, including slo-mo combat, martial arts attacks, and enhanced A.I. The A.I. from the original F.E.A.R. was known for its exploitation of the environments, taking cover behind pillars and knocking down tables, and many of these behaviors have been retained for the sequel. New features in the game include iron sight aiming, creating cover by pushing objects, and the ability to use mechs during vehicle segments. Project Origin features a more diverse cast of enemies, as well as more encounters with supernatural enemies.
F.E.A.R. 2 does not allow the player to manually save and features a single save slot that relies on a checkpoint system. However, the game allows the player to replay any level from the main menu after first completing that level.
The sequel to F.E.A.R. continues the supernatural suspense story of the supernatural being, Alma, whose rage against those who wronged her causes an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to devour and replace reality with her own.[6] Instead of playing as the Point Man, the game's protagonist is Michael Becket, a Delta Force operator[7] whose squad is sent in to take Genevieve Aristide into protective custody approximately thirty minutes before the ending of F.E.A.R.
The game opens with Becket experiencing a hallucination involving a ruined city, where he sees Alma walking along. As he recovers, Becket's squad arrives at the penthouse complex where Aristide lives, only to find it under assault by a team from ATC Security's black ops, dispatched by Armacham Technology Corporation's Board of Directors. After saving Aristide, Becket uncovers hints of a project known as "Harbinger", which involves himself and several of his teammates. Aristide claims that Becket and his team are the only way to stop Alma, but before she can elaborate, the F.E.A.R. Point Man detonates the Origin Facility's reactor. Becket is knocked unconscious in the explosion.
When he recovers, Becket finds himself and the rest of his squad in a hospital deep underground, being operated on by a team of doctors under the direction of Aristide. The hospital comes under attack by ATC clean-up crews led by Colonel Vanek, and Becket must fight his way out. While escaping, Becket receives communications over his radio from a man who calls himself "Snake Fist". After escaping the hospital and confronting the commander of the ATC forces, Becket fights his way to the surface, where he encounters the reactivated Replica troops. As he moves to the surface, Becket is repeatedly assaulted in hand-to-hand combat by Alma, who (according to Snake Fist) is trying to "absorb" Becket, drawn by the psychic signal he now emits after being psychically altered in an "attunement chamber" that Aristide tricked him into entering.
After reaching the surface, Becket regroups with what is left of his team, many of whom have been systematically killed by Alma. Now consisting only of Becket, his superior Lieutenant Stokes, Sergeant Morales, and Sergeant First Class Keegan, the squad moves to nearby Wade Elementary, a school now controlled by ATC Security, where Snake Fist and Aristide are hiding. Becket discovers that the basement of the school is another ATC research facility, for a project known as "Paragon." Here, Becket discovers that Project Harbinger was an attempt to create more psychic commanders similar to Paxton Fettel, a major antagonist from the original game, and that Becket and Keegan were the most promising subjects.
In the basement facility, Becket kills Colonel Vanek and finds Snake Fist. Snake Fist reveals himself as Terry Halford, a researcher for ATC, and explains that the only way to defeat Alma is to travel to an Armacham facility inside a nuclear reactor on nearby Still Island, which houses a device that can amplify psychic power. With this device, Becket can possibly defeat Alma with his own psychic abilities. As Becket and Halford prepare to head back to the surface, Halford is decapitated by a Replica assassin.
En route to Still Island, Becket's squad is ambushed by Replica troops, and Sergeant Keegan wanders off in a daze. Becket follows and tries to recover Keegan, but is instead delayed by Replica forces. After fighting off both the enemy soldiers and more of Alma's assaults, he eventually reunites with the remainder of the squad underneath Still Island and heads for the ATC facility. Becket enters the psychic amplifier, and as Stokes prepares to power up the machine, she is killed by Genevieve Aristide. Aristide explains that instead of destroying Alma, she plans to seal Becket and Alma inside the device together, so Aristide can use Alma as leverage against ATC.
Alma attacks again, and Aristide seals Becket and Alma together. Alma approaches Becket, and he is sent into another hallucination, where he fights off apparitions of a maddened Sergeant Keegan. While trying to reactivate the amplifier, Becket sees images of Alma, who appears to be sexually assaulting his body in the real world. Finally, after reactivating the last switch, Becket escapes the hallucination to find himself sealed inside the device. The device opens, and Becket sees Alma standing in the midst of a blasted landscape. Alma is now pregnant with Becket's child, and the game ends as she walks up to Becket and places his hand onto her stomach, and the voice of a child saying 'Mommy' can be distinctly heard.
